T&D Barnes
Electrical works for a specialist engineering and manufacturing facility
Scope of Works
Pro Energise delivered electrical works at T&D Barnes' specialist engineering and manufacturing facility. The scope included EICR testing, remedial works from inspection findings, new circuit installations for CNC machinery, and lighting upgrades in production areas.
The programme was phased to avoid disruption to precision manufacturing operations, with power shutdowns scheduled during planned maintenance windows. All works were completed with full test certification and digital handover documentation.
What This Project Demonstrates
- Precision manufacturing environment — works around CNC machinery and specialist engineering operations
- Zero unplanned downtime — not a single hour of unplanned production loss
- Maintenance window scheduling — power shutdowns aligned with planned maintenance periods
- CNC circuit installations — dedicated power circuits for precision manufacturing equipment
- Test-and-fix scope — EICR testing and remedial works combined in single programme
- Full digital handover — test certification and documentation provided on completion
Delivery Outcomes
Production Impact
Zero hours of unplanned downtime
Programme
Phased around planned maintenance windows
Compliance
EICR findings remediated within the programme
Documentation
Full test certification and digital handover
Scope
EICR testing, remedials, CNC circuits, production lighting
Services Delivered
EICR testing across the facility, identifying compliance observations that were then remediated within the same programme.
New dedicated circuit installations for CNC machinery and lighting upgrades in production areas. Circuits designed for the power requirements of precision manufacturing equipment.
Delivery Controls Applied
This project was delivered under Pro Energise's structured commercial delivery framework, including:
- Programme phased around T&D Barnes' planned maintenance windows to avoid production disruption
- Power shutdowns coordinated with production management — zero unplanned downtime
- EICR findings prioritised and remediated within the same programme
- CNC machinery circuits tested and verified before production recommenced
- Full test certification and digital handover documentation
Project delivery tracked through our Contracts OS management platform.
From 2026, all commercial projects are formally tracked against defined KPI measures.
Environment & Sector Context
Precision engineering facilities have specific electrical requirements. CNC machinery requires clean, dedicated power circuits with appropriate protection to avoid voltage fluctuations that can affect machining tolerances. Power shutdowns in a precision manufacturing environment must be carefully coordinated — unexpected loss of power during a CNC operation can damage workpieces and tooling.
The test-and-fix delivery model — EICR testing followed by remedial works within the same programme — is efficient for manufacturing clients. It avoids the common pattern of a testing contractor identifying issues, then a separate contractor being appointed to remediate them, with the associated delays and duplication.
